Event Details

A grassroots gala and banquet celebrating the 29th anniversary of the Mid-South Peace and Justice Center.

On Saturday January 15, 2011, the Mid-South Peace and Justice Center will present their annual benefit gala titled "Living the Legacy of Nonviolence" in the beautiful sanctuary of First Congregational Church.

Two ways to enjoy the evening:

Banquet Tickets:
Reception and Seated Banquet :: 6:00p :: $40 per ticket :: Tables of 8 also available.
Assigned seating. Orders recieved by January 10 will have physical tickets mailed to purchaser, other tickets will be held in will-call at the door.

General Admission:
Program and Keynote Speaker :: 7:00p :: $20 Suggested Donation :: No one turned away for financial reasons.
No assigned seating. E-tickets can be printed or tickets will be held in will-call at the door.

Van Jones is a globally recognized, award-winning pioneer in human rights and the clean-energy economy. Van is a co-founder of three successful non-profit organizations: the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, Color of Change and Green For All. He is the best-selling author of the definitive book on green jobs: The Green-Collar Economy. He served as the green jobs advisor in the Obama White House in 2009.

Van is currently a senior fellow at the Center For American Progress. Additionally, he is a senior policy advisor at Green For All.

Amy LaVere jumps genres as a mix of rock ‘n’ roll, jazz and bluesy balladry. Recently appearing on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, LaVere is a child of America, making her home at the almighty musical crossroads of Memphis.
